This Quarter, Mrs. Milczark had 8th Graders and they walked through the "ABC's of Entrepreneurship." The students were in groups all quarter and they scratched the surface of what it might be like to have a food truck. What would they serve? How well would they work together? And, yesterday they put some of that to good use when they took a field trip to the kitchens, and made something that might be served in their food truck! Mrs. Milczark said it has been so great having 8th Grade this Quarter, and she can't wait to get the other half during 4th Quarter! #WeRWillow

On Tuesday, March 10, students in the Willow River 7-12 Choir traveled to Crosby-Ironton High School to perform as a part of the Minnesota State High School League Choir Contest. The students performed 2 selections and earned an overall rating of Excellent. This is a great achievement for our students as it is the first time that any students in this group have ever performed at the Choir Festival!
Additionally, we had one student participate in Solo and Ensemble, an activity where students prepare and perform individual/ small group selections. Congratulations to Lilly E, Soprano Soloist for earning an Excellent on her solo!
We are so proud of our students for representing Willow River and for their hard work over the past few months.

The 9th Grade Careers Class attended the 2026 Career Awareness and College Fair at FDLTCC. Students were tasked with learning about careers and college options. Around 60 local professionals/businesses and colleges were present that students were able to meet with. #collegefair #WeRWillow

On Monday, March 9, students in the Willow River 7-12 Band traveled to Crosby-Ironton High School to perform as a part of the Minnesota State High School League Band Contest. The students performed 2 selections and earned an overall Superior, the highest rating that a group can receive. Additionally, a few students participated in Solo and Ensemble, an activity where students prepare and perform individual/ small group selections. The following students earned the following ratings:

Michael H, Trumpet Solo: Superior
Virginia H, Saxophone Solo: Superior
Gwen Z, Mallet Solo: Excellent
Gwen Z, Madi Z, and Addi C; Percussion Ensemble: Superior

We are so proud of the students for their hard work and dedication to this ensemble. This is a huge achievement for our students and for our music program here at Willow River!
