My home away from school is a small, family farm in Barnum. I raise meat goats and many of my students love meeting them at the Carlton County Fair just before school starts. We also count a horse, a donkey, some chickens, three cats, and a chocolate Labrador named Lincoln as part of our farm family. My husband and I have two boys who are both at the University of Minnesota/Twin Cities. We enjoy taking trips to the Cities to catch a play or concert and stock up their refrigerators!
One of my favorite things is sharing my home stories with my students and then listening to their stories about their experiences. It helps our class feel connected and ready to learn!
I have been teaching at Willow River for 12 years. I attained my bachelor's degree from the University of Minnesota-Duluth and my master's degree from Saint Mary's University in Minneapolis. I love to discover news ways of teaching and learning. That is my personal challenge; to keep learning and discovering so that students are able to experience the greatest success and enjoyment in what they do.
I also love to spend as much time as possible with my family. I am married and have 4 children. We like to rock climb, kayak, hike, snowshoe, camp, explore new places, and experience as many adventures as we can!
