Mrs. Mach's Second Grade.
I grew up in Willow River and attended the Willow River School (grades 1,2, and 3 in Sturgeon Lake, and grades 4 through 12 in Willow River). After graduation, I attended the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth. After college, I taught for two years in Uvalde, Texas. Upon returning home, I was hired by Mr. George Glum, then Superintendent of Willow River School. I began teaching for the Willow River Area School District in 1975. I taught for several years at our K-2 school building in Sturgeon Lake. When it closed in the early 80's, I was moved down to our Willow River building. I taught until 2009, when I thought I was ready for retirement. No sooner had I retired, then I realized I had made a big mistake! I missed teaching so much! In 2010, Willow River very kindly offered me a teaching position. I have been happily teaching second grade since 2010. I live on a beef farm east of Sturgeon Lake with my husband, Jim. We have six adult children and four grand children.
